The diagnosis of a brain tumor in a child causes a real psychic trauma in the parents, who find themselves in a state of transitory shock. This is followed by adaptive defensive mechanisms, which allow the father and mother to appropriate their child's illness. As for the child, the way in which he/she apprehends the announcement of his/her pathology and its repercussions will depend on his/her stage of development.

[Hypothermia therapy for babies: an interminable wait for the parents]. / Hypothermie thérapeutique du bébé : une interminable attente pour les parents.

Hypothermia therapy is a protocol put in place to treat neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy in the first six hours after birth in order to prevent irreversible brain damage. The parents are therefore immediately separated from the newborn and endure an interminable 72-hour wait before being able to really meet their baby. Psychological support is therefore necessary to be able to think the unthinkable.

Atorvastatin can ameliorate left atrial stunning induced by radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation.

The objective of this study was to study the functional changes of the left atrium after radiofrequency ablation treatment for atrial fibrillation and the therapeutic effect of atorvastatin. Fifty-eight patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation were randomly divided into non-atorvastatin group and atorvastatin group. Patients in the atorvastatin group were treated with atorvastatin 20 mg p.o. per night in addition to the conventional treatment of atrial fibrillation; patients in the non-atorvastatin group received conventional treatment of atrial fibrillation only. Echocardiography was performed before radiofrequency ablation operation and 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks after operation. Two-dimensional ultrasound speckle tracking imaging system was used to measure the structural indexes of the left atrium. Results indicated that there was no significant change for indexes representing the structural status of the left atrium within a month after radiofrequency ablation (P > 0.05); however, there were significant changes for indexes representing the functional status of the left atrium. There were also significant changes in indexes reflecting left atrial strain status: the S and SRs of atorvastatin group were higher than those of non-atorvastatin group (P < 0.05). In summary, atorvastatin could improve left atrial function and shorten the duration of atrial stunning after radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is the leading cause of death by poisoning in France. Neuropsychological symptoms are most common. We report on a patient with acute coronary syndrome and transient left ventricular dysfunction in carbon monoxide poisoning. Patient improved under hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Coronary angiography shows no significant lesion leading to myocardial stunning diagnose. Patients exposed to carbon monoxide must have systematic cardiac evaluation with electrocardiogram and dosage of biomarkers.

When we analyze the interfaces of these types of psychic configurations with social bonds we see serial killers treated as icons of the post-modern culture, to the extent that they are idealized in the cinema, books and television series. They are also idolized by many for their ability to mesmerize, deceive and defraud others. These characteristics leads persons to support and approve perverse social bonds present in contemporary society.(AU)

O riso, desde Freud, figura como manifestação ímpar do inconsciente. A psicose, a partir de Lacan, ganha lugar especial na clínica psicanalítica. Como em psicanálise sem clínica não se faz teoria, aqui o relevante das surpresas advindas desta fomentaram o estudo proposto. O que se passa quando o riso eclode em sujeitos estruturados na psicose? Das diferentes formas de provocá-lo daremos aqui prioridade ao cômico em sua relação com a queda do significante fálico, este que parece siderar o sujeito psicótico. Indispensável à psicanálise o estatuto ético desta na transposição do trágico pelo cômico e no ato analítico enquanto via para que a voz do sujeito se faça ouvir vem a perguntar sobre isso: será o riso uma possível queda da voz enquanto objeto a tornar-se comunicação?

The laugh since Freud figures as an odd manifestation of the unconscious. The psychosis, in Lacan, acquires a special place in the thought and in the clinical psychoanalytical. As in psychoanalysis the theory comes from the clinical, the present paper also is a resulting of the surprises of clinical experiences. What happens when the laugh emerges in subjects structured in the psychosis? Among the different forms of provoking the laugh, this present paper will give priority to the comic in its relation to the fall of the significant phallus, which seems to fulminate the psychotic subject. The ethical statute indispensable to the psychoanalysis occurs in the analytical act as a possibility for the subject to be heard: would it be the laugh a possible fall of the voice as object? If so the voice in the laugh could be understood as communication?
